A quiet life

A painting to calm the mind and soul. Soft estuary light and colours. Hint of sun behind gentle blush pink clouds. Milk colour still waters. No wind, just distant birdsong. Enjoying the stillness. And breathe. I love the pared back simplicity of it. It really does calm my mind to look at it. There are some beautiful subtle textures that hint at things, but it is definitely a painting that allows your mind to wander as you look at it. For me, it contains the memories of so many peaceful walks along the Helford, snaking along the hidden creeks with just birdsong for company. Sky and water appears as one milky colour in the early mist, and a pale pink sun is slowly emerging from the clouds. Not a breath of wind. As we head into Autumn, a quiet life Cornwall returns.

It is now hanging on my studio wall next to my "Frenchman's Creek Dusk" print and they have a similar quietness which I love. I have called it "A quiet life", it is definitely my way of returning to this sense of calm.
