The dawn walk, Durgan

Durgan is a very special, timeless place on the Helford, and I still remember the day we discovered it by chance after moving to Cornwall. This painting is of the view as you come down the footpath through the woods, and get that first glimpse of the water. Semi tropical plants in the village gardens fringe the path. The light in the morning is exquisite, facing East, so the village is bathed in golden light as the sun rises above the headland. It is a place I walk pretty much every day, and I absolutely love it.
