The Helford River can be a breezy place, particularly when a strong easterly is blowing. Dinghies are pulled up out of the water when eastery storms are forecast. This painting, on Arches Huile paper, captures the movement and shapes in the clouds and water as the breeze is picking up, funnelling into the mouth of the river and creating a shimmering rippling effect. I love how this is semi-abstract with passages suggesting form but also just enjoying the painterly effects.
Oil and cold wax on Arches Huile Paper fixed to board and framed in a white wood St Ives moat frame 6cm.
