Three trees of Calmansack

This painting is currently on show as part of the St Ives Society of Artists Christmas Open.

Headlands beyond these trees frame the view of the boats anchored up in the river. Their trunks catch the light and glow a burnished red. I love the shapes in the water, the angles of reflections and tides. I feel apart from everyone up here, a spectator of other peoples’ lives.

An oil worked up from my gouache plein air painting.

Framed in a floating white wood frame measuring
32.5 x 27cm
