Summer beneath the pines

This painting is available through the Waterside Gallery, St Mawes, email amanda@watersidegallery.co.uk.

Framed in a light natural wood tray frame.

Capturing the heat of the August sun, after weeks of heatwave which has bleached the distant fields a dry yellow. In the midday heat, the blues of the Percuil waters shimmer, an intense cyan blue fading to muted teals, boat masts picked out in the haze. The pine also bears the heat, offering welcome shade beneath its needles.

Inspired by the plein gouache painting "Boats and pine" from My St Mawes and Roseland Sketchbook collection.

My heart lifts with the twists of this tree, dancing over the boats anchored below in the cool Percuil waters. A tree of South Cornwall landscapes, backed by soft rolling yellow fields and hedgerows. One day they will all go, every portrait is special.
