Sister painting to "Serpentine waters". Capturing the intricate textures and shades of dawn in the sky and water. This is that feeling of being immersed in beautiful soft pink light, before the sun rises. Cold air accentuate the colours. The trees cast flashes of emerald green into the shadows.
This is a richly textured painting with subtle layers of paint with carved marks to reveal bursts of pigment.
